Bocco will work with Gersh's talent and lit divisions on both coasts to assemble financing for indie pics to be sold globally. She also will seek to broaden Gersh's existing roster of directing and producing talent by bringing international filmmakers into the fold.
At Miramax for three years as senior veep of acquisitions, Bocco had a hand in acquiring "The Station Agent," "Garden State" and "Tadpole," among others. She also was an exec on the Brazilian import "City of God."
Agency principal David Gersh said Bocco and the new division will augment Gersh's indie efforts, which have included shepherding past projects such as "Station Agent" and "Super Size Me" to Sundance.
"Arianna's background at Miramax makes her perfect to launch our new division," Gersh said. "She has wonderful taste in films and filmmakers." Bocco previously served at New Line in Los Angeles for six years, ankling as veep of acquisitions and co-productions. She also previously worked with film director Jeremy Leven after stints at the Steve Tisch Co. and ICM.
"Having worked in acquisitions for nine years," said Bocco, "this is really a natural progression for me."
