Ad spend up in '04

Ad spending rose by double digits in Hong Kong last year.

In December, ads brought in HK$4 billion ($513 million), which was a 6% jump vs. the same time last year, according to Nielsen Media Research.

For the year, ad spending came in at just more than $5 billion, a 13% boost vs. 2003.

The annual growth was due to increased spending from telecom companies, beauty/hair salons, fitness centers and department stores, the report said.
