After Broadway's all-time highest-grossing frame New Year's week, the tourists went home and five shows closed, causing grosses to plunge 35.5% to $14,224,482 during Week 32 (Jan. 3-9). Attendance dropped 25.5% to 215,003.

But the gross is not far off from past post-New Year's frames: $14.1 million in 2004 and $14.8 million in 2003.

The only show to increase its gross was "700 Sundays," which inched up $3,216 to $819,002.

Seventeen shows saw six-figure declines. "Fiddler on the Roof" took a 47.5% hit, dropping $543,965 to $601,947 in its first week with Harvey Fierstein and Andrea Martin in the lead roles. Others taking bit hits: "Movin' Out" (down $403,033 to $600,063), "Beauty and the Beast" (down $392,465 to $651,563) and "The Producers" (down $367,181 to $850,764).

The 18 musicals grossed $11,780,157 for 82.8% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 179,054 at 87.2% of capacity.

The eight plays grossed $2,444,325 for 17.2% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 35,949 at 67.6% of capacity.

Average ticket prices were $65.79 for musicals, $67.99 for plays and $66.16 for all shows.
