'Medium' hot on NBC

ABC's 'Makeover' spinoff builds ratings

'Medium'

NBC's psychic drama 'Medium' did well in its second week.

NBC rookie "Medium" and the second part of Fox's two-night season premiere of "24" ruled the primetime ratings on Monday, while ABC did well with the series premiere of a spinoff of Sunday smash "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition."

In the 10 o'clock hour, psychic drama "Medium" (6.3/15 in adults 18-49, 16.34 million viewers overall) was on par with its impressive week-earlier bow -- winning over a repeat of "CSI: Miami" on CBS (4.7/11 in 18-49, 13.98m) and the second half of the preem of ABC's "The Bachelorette," according to Nielsen.

Show again doubled the Peacock's pre-"Medium" averages in the timeslot.

NBC, which won Monday for the first time this season, also did pretty well at 9 with "Las Vegas" (4.8/11 in 18-49, 12.63m) and was solid, but no longer the clear leader, at 8 with "Fear Factor" (4.2/11 in 18-49, 10.68m).

Fox aired another two hours of "24," winning across the board at 8 (4.7/12 in 18-49, 11.91m) and leading in 18-49 in its regular slot at 9 (5.3/12 in 18-49, 13.35m). The victory at 9 marked the first time this season that a regular, firstrun scripted Fox series had won its time period in 18-49.

'Extreme' success

ABC, rejigging its sked in the absence of "Monday Night Football," scored at 8 with "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition: How'd They Do That?" (4.2/11 in 18-49, 11.56m). The behind-the-scenes look at the remodeling that took place on "Home Edition" the previous night was the Alphabet's best regular-series perf in the Monday-at-8 hour since March 1998.

And from 9 to 11, "The Bachelorette" opened with some spunk (4.3/10 in 18-49, 9.12m), growing with each half-hour. "Bachelorette" will regularly air at 9, followed by unscripted hour "Nanny 911," which bows next week.

CBS went with all repeats, led by "Everybody Loves Raymond" (4.9/11 in adults 18-49, 15.73m), while the "Critics Choice Awards" (1.0/2, 2.71m) didn't do much on the WB.

Lifetime fared well with Debra Winger telepic "Dawn Anna" (1.5/3 in 18-49, 4.39m), which led its basic-cable competish from 9 to 11 in key female demos.
