NEW YORK -- The Scripps Networks has hired Eric Thorkilsen to become VP of business development, charged with extending the brands of Scripps's cable networks Home & Garden TV, Food Network, DIY Network, Fine Living and Great American Country, and its electronic retailer Shop At Home.
Thorkilsen was most recently president of the Time Warner-owned This Old House Ventures. He expanded the PBS series "This Old House" into publishing, broadband, event marketing, direct sales, licensing and videos. From 1990 to 1995, Thorkilsen was publisher and president of Martha Stewart Living, overseeing the company's magazine, TV, book and product operations.
Scripps has also shifted Cherie cq Oswald from her post as an executive in the finance department to VP of business development, reporting to Thorkilsen.
