Annette Bening will star in "Running With Scissors," the first title to go through Sony's revamped TriStar Pictures label.
Plan B will produce the adaptation of Augusten Burroughs' bestselling memoir recounting a bizarre childhood overseen by a bipolar and monstrously selfish mother.
"Nip/Tuck" creator Ryan Murphy wrote the script and will make his feature directing bow (Daily Variety, Nov. 4, 2002).
Julianne Moore was previously attached to the pic, which is expected to move into production in spring.
Producers are Brad Grey, Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt, all for Plan B.
In May, Valerie Van Galder was tapped from her post as Screen Gems exec VP to head the TriStar label in its new guise as a marketing and acquisitions unit.
Upcoming releases for the banner include Catherine Hardwicke's period skateboarding pic "Lords of Dogtown" and Roman Polanski's "Oliver Twist."
Bening received a Globe nom and actress kudos from the National Board of Review for her performance in Sony Pictures Classics' "Being Julia." She recently wrapped "Mrs. Harris" opposite Ben Kingsley for HBO.
