VLife turns to Chalon

Variety mag scores associate producer

Jon Chalon has been named associate publisher of VLife. Vlife, published seven times annually, is Variety's latest publication providing insider news and lifestyle features for the entertainment industry.

Chalon will be responsible for overseeing ad sales and the consumer team in New York and Los Angeles for Daily Variety, Weekly Variety, Vlife and Variety.com. Chalon will report to Vlife Publisher and Variety VP of Strategic Marketing Madelyn Hammond.

"Jon has deep relationships within the consumer category and will be a great addition to the team and a valuable asset to Variety," Hammond said.

With more than 21 years in the publishing field, Chalon most recently served as VP, publishing director for Mediacentric, overseeing all editorial, advertising, circulation and marketing strategies for a new magazine for the George Lucas Education Foundation. Before Mediacentric, Chalon served as publisher for Spin Magazine.

Prior to Spin, Chalon held various posts in the publishing industry including VP/associate publisher at the Industry Standard and international advertising director at Inc. Magazine. Chalon's first position was with McGraw Hill Publications as district manager.
