Warner Bros. TV Intl. Distribution prexy Jeffrey Schlesinger recently inked the deal with Johan Cramer, CEO of Nordic service SF Anytime (SF-anytime.com). Agreement follows a similar arrangement in Italy with Telecom Italia that was unveiled Tuesday.
SF Anytime will have the right to offer current movies online just six months after their DVD release as well as a selection of library titles through streaming to users' PCs.
The content will be filtered to ensure that it is available to broadband customers in the Nordic countries only and will be available for a 24-hour viewing period.
This technology will give consumers legitimate access to titles like "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," "Mystic River," "Troy" and "The Last Samurai."
The deal between SF Anytime and WBITD was negotiated by the division's VP Mickie Steinmann and includes provisions to fight piracy.
