'Girls' duo gets 'Kinky'

LONDON -- After the success of "Calendar Girls," Buena Vista Intl. and production company Harbour Pictures have reteamed for another bawdy British comedy, "The Kinky Boot Factory."

Directed by Julian Jarrold, the pic will co-star Chiwetel Ejiofor ("Dirty Pretty Things") and young Aussie Joel Edgerton.

Edgerton plays Charlie Price, who reluctantly inherits an almost bankrupt shoe factory after his father's death. A chance encounter with a transvestite cabaret star (Ejiofor) gives Charlie the idea to save the factory by manufacturing erotic women's boots, to the dismay of his workforce.

Shooting starts at the end of November on location in Northampton and at Ealing Studios.

Harbour's Nick Barton and Suzanne Mackie are producing with Peter Ettedgui.
