Acad dubs two as Film Scholars

Beauchamp to do Kennedy bio; Musser studying docus

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has named Cari Beauchamp and Charles Musser its 2004 Academy Film Scholars. Both will receive a $25,000 grant to pursue their scholarly works.

Writer Beauchamp will use the grant to pen a biography of Joseph P. Kennedy, titled "Joe Kennedy's Hollywood."

Musser, a professor of American studies and film at Yale, will produce a study titled "Film Truth, Documentary Practice: A History," concerning the changing approaches to "truth" in nonfiction film.
