Marc Platt will produce pic for the studio's Touchstone Pictures label with his producing partner Abby Wolf-Weiss.
As yet no screenwriter is attached to pen the adaptation.
Pic is being overseen at the studio by exec VP of production Karen Glass.
"Park" is a drama centering around a woman, Emilia, who has been emotionally shattered by the death of her baby and is consumed with hostility for her young stepson. However, she soon discovers that to repair her marriage and herself she must earn the love of the boy.
Doubleday bought North American publishing rights to the novel last spring based on a partial manuscript of 100 pages. Book will be published in January 2006 and has also been sold to the U.K., France, Germany, Holland and Norway.
Deal was inked by film agent Sylvie Rabineau, Waldman's literary agent Mary Evans and Colden, McKuin & Frankel.
Waldman's Mommy Track Mysteries series of crime novels has been optioned for TV.
Platt is in post-production on "The Perfect Man," starring Hilary Duff. He also recently teamed with Disney's ABC on the upcoming movie "Once Upon a Mattress," starring Carol Burnett and Tracey Ullman.
Platt also produced for Universal the upcoming adaptation of Pulitzer Prize-winning novel "Empire Falls," starring Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, Ed Harris, Helen Hunt and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
