Meantime, as awards season gets into gear, the New York Film Critics Circle has pegged Jan. 9 as the date for its annual awards dinner, to be held at the Big Apple's Roosevelt Hotel. Org will cast ballots for its 70th awards event Dec. 13 at the Muse Hotel.
Thelma Adams of Us Weekly has been tapped as vice chairman for the NYFCC and will hold the post throughout 2005.
Tipping her hand, Adams reckons that "at least nine performances will be strongly considered" in the actor category when the NYFCC votes next month.
The NBR will release its full list of 2004 winners Dec. 1.
Three years ago, the NBR -- a group whose members do not have commercial ties to the industry -- picked Bruckheimer's military drama "Black Hawk Down," helmed by Ridley Scott, as one of its top 10 films of 2001.
Said NBR prexy Annie Schulhof: "The organization is thrilled to be honoring (Bruckheimer) again. Whether engaged in large-scale action-adventure blockbusters or more intimate character-driven productions, the Bruckheimer signature guarantees a film of distinction."
Bruckheimer's credits include such diverse fare as "American Gigolo," "Flashdance" "Dangerous Minds," "The Rock," "Pearl Harbor" and "Pirates of the Caribbean."
Borh groups' awards are considered to pave the way for Oscar contention.
