Thesps lead the 'Blind'

Edwards-helmed pic to begin in London in January

Ralph Fiennes and Donald Sutherland will star in "Land of the Blind," produced by Jon Avnet.

The feature writing and directing bow of Bob Edwards, pic is about a prisoner who recounts his life as a soldier-turned-dissident and his role in the overthrow of his country's totalitarian government.

Philippe Martinez will produce with Avnet. Marsha Oglesby is the executive producer.

Production is expected to begin in London in early January.

Martinez is the principal of Bauer Martinez. At the American Film Market, the shingle is repping films including "Dorian," starring Ryan Philippe, and "Irish Jam," starring Eddie Griffin.

Edwards was a Nicholls fellow and an intelligence officer in the Gulf War.
