Harden in 'Bears' lineup

Role of attorney who recruits coach for team

Marcia Gay Harden has been penciled into the lineup for Paramount's remake of "Bad News Bears," starring Billy Bob Thornton and Greg Kinnear.

The Oscar winner is in negotiations to portray an attorney who recruits Thornton's character to coach a Little League team of misfits. Richard Linklater is helming, with shooting expected to begin Nov. 15.

The comedy, with Geyer Kosinski producing via his Media Talent Group shingle, will be released next summer.

Harden most recently worked on the Hallmark Hall of Fame/CBS telefilm "In From the Night," IFC's "American Gun" and Dylan Kidd's "P.S."

"Bad News Bears" has been scripted by "Bad Santa" writers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa in a remake of the studio's 1976 comedy, which starred Tatum O'Neal and Walter Matthau. Par exec VP Alli Shearmur is overseeing for the studio.
