Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Michael Chabon has come aboard to pen "Snow and the Seven," a retelling of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" for Walt Disney Pictures.

Pic will be directed by Yuen Wo Ping, choreographer of groundbreaking actioners "The Matrix" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon."

Previously known as "Snow White and the Seven Shao Lin," pic will mark Yuen's first English-lingo feature as a director. Andrew Gunn is producing the pic being overseen by Disney exec Brigham Taylor.

Original draft of script was written by Josh Harman and Scott Elder; this version will be a retelling of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" with a martial arts/Chinese fantasy twist.

Chabon wrote the screenplay for the feature version of "Clay" and got a story credit on "Spider-Man 2."

He also wrote the novel "Wonder Boys," which was adapted for the screen by Steve Kloves.
