Litt good fit at Par TV unit

'Queens' guy is king in prod'n deal

"King of Queens" co-creator David Litt will try to find his next hit at Paramount.

Litt has inked a seven-figure, multiyear overall development and production deal with Paramount Network Television. Pact is the first such deal announced by David Stapf since he took over as prexy of the Viacom studio last month.

Under the deal, which takes effect in June, Litt will create and produce comedy programming for all networks. Scribe is working as co-exec producer on the CBS laffer "Listen Up."

Stapf said Litt ranks as "one of the most distinctive writers out there."

"He's very quick-witted and very sharp and skilled at working on, running and creating funny television shows, which is a very difficult thing to do," Stapf told Daily Variety.

Litt said his years of experience working with Stapf and CBS execs Leslie Moonves and Nancy Tellem made the deal with Par "a logical thing. They get me, I get them."

What's more, now that he's based at Par, Litt quipped that he can now look forward "to continuing our weekly sleepovers where Les braids our hair while Nancy tells ghost stories."

After getting his primetime network start on the Fox laffer "Ned and Stacey" back in 1995, Litt teamed with Michael Weithorn to co-create "King of Queens." He stayed on as exec producer for three seasons.

Litt then inked an overall with Touchstone Television, creating the NBC laffer "Regular Joe" as part of the deal.
