Variety.com offers streaming service

Video free for visitors and site subscribers

Variety.com has launched Variety Vision, a high-quality broadband streaming initiative that will focus on everything about the business of entertainment, from the upcoming Oscar season to the ongoing Miramax-Disney saga.

Variety Vision is free to all site visitors and features "The Variety Newsroom," a weekly newsshow consisting of three or four segments. Variety editors and reporters are featured in each two- to three-minute segment discussing hot industry topics.

"Variety Vision not only provides timely, engaging content to our core audience, but it affords advertisers a unique venue to capture the attention of this targeted group," said Charlie Koones, exec vice president and publisher, the Variety Group.

Additional content will feature Q&As from Variety's exclusive screening series; selections from Variety events, such as the Women in ShowBiz panel; and "The Trailer Park," devoted to trailers from this year's Academy race.
