Shingle will be overseen by Brooklyn Weaver of Energy Entertainment, who discovered the 21-year-old Russell in the UCLA screenwriting program.
Weaver's optioned the "Muse" project for low-six figures. Project's based on the female superhero character created by Darren Davis about a modern-day daughter of the Greek God Zeus. Russell will write and produce along with Weaver and Davis' manager Daniel Alter.
The deal for the "The 10th Muse" reteams Davis with Russell, who recently sold an action-adventure pitch based on Davis' "Isis" comic to Paramount-based Grammnet. Liefeld's developing "Spin," "The Mark," "Planet Terry" and "Shrink!"
Russell graduated last month from the UCLA program after her thesis script, a historic action-drama "Erin Go Bragh," won a writing award.
