New cast at 20th TV

Hires seen as necessary to keep pace with projects

Twentieth Century Fox TV has shuffled its roster of casting execs, promoting one and hiring two more.

Under the oversight of casting senior VP Sharon Klein, the studio has upped Tony Martinelli to VP of drama casting. New to the department are Ron Digman, who's been named director of comedy casting, and Alana Kleiman, who joins as manager of casting.

Klein said the hires and promotions were necessary as studios and networks develop more projects throughout the year.

"With Fox and other networks aggressively developing and shooting new projects year-round, the demand for exciting, fresh talent has been constant and intense," she said.

Martinelli has been promoted from director of drama casting. His credits include "24," "Tru Calling," "Judging Amy" and this season's frosh entries "North Shore" and "Boston Legal." The exec joined 20th in 1998; before that, he worked at Universal TV and Columbia TV.

Digman, meanwhile, joins the studio full time after having worked on 20th series including "Miss Match" and "Reba." He'll now focus on laffers such as "Arrested Development" and "Quintuplets."

Digman started out as a talent agent at the Sanders Agency; he later worked with indie casting directors such as Jeff Greenberg.

As for Kleiman, she'll be responsible for keeping the casting department in tune with fresh young-adult faces. She joins from Original Film, where she worked in the talent management department.
