Pic is about an Arab cab driver who picks up a troubled professional woman with unexpected results. Sandra Oh co-stars in the pic, which is set against the anxieties and fears of post-9/11 America.
Winick, Karen Jaroneski and Jake Abraham are producing pic being exec- produced by Mark Waters, Jonathan Sehring, Caroline Kaplan and John Sloss. Production is set to begin in New York City today.
"What at first seemed like a simple, straightforward two-character drama managed to become grippingly suspenseful like a mystery, socially relevant without preaching and ultimately gut-wrenchingly emotional," Waters said.
Wright Penn's most recent credits include Keith Gordon's "The Singing Detective," Peter Kosminski's "White Oleander" and Michael Mayer's "A Home at the End of the World." She also stars in Deborah Kampmeier's "Virgin," for which she serves as exec producer. She will star in Fred Schepisi's "Empire Falls" for HBO.
Writer-director Stanzler's film credits include "Jumpin' at the Boneyard."
