W&A lays off nine agents

Reps hit skids with new deal

Pink slips have started to arrive at Writers & Artists Group Intl. with Paradigm expected to close its purchase of W&A shortly.

Agents Cynthia Booth, Angela Cheng Caplan, Todd Eisner, Karen Goldberg, Jason Priluck, Tom Ratanavaraha, Dina Shapiro, Brandon Stein and Eric Williams were laid off Thursday evening.

W&A chairman-CEO Norman Aladjem is joining Paradigm along with L.A. office head Stephen Small and agents Sarah Clossey, Carel Cutler, Rich Freeman, Andrew Rogers and Chris Schmidt. W&A partner Marti Blumenthal recently announced that she would not go to Paradigm (Daily Variety, Aug. 26).

Paradigm has about 70 agents and recently moved into new headquarters at the MCA building in Beverly Hills.
