Live Planet's Sean Bailey will produce the pic with Scott and his production shingle, the Bridge.
The deal comes just days after the studio set "Toy Story 2" helmer Ash Brannon and "Tarzan" helmer Chris Buck to team on CGI penguin pic "Surf's Up."
"Big Nasty" will be overseen by SPA's Penney Finkelman Cox and Nate Hopper. It's part of a ramping up of the studio's animation division, which is part of Sony Pictures Digital.
Scott, whose scripting credits include "Barbershop 2: Back in Business," is making his debut as a producer, while Bailey produced "Matchstick Men" and is readying a third season of Live Planet's HBO series "Project Greenlight."
SPA, which is run by Cox and Sandra Rabins, is in production on "Open Season," a mismatched-buddy comedy featuring a grizzly bear (voiced by Martin Lawrence) and a moose (voiced by Ashton Kutcher).
