Easton Ellis' 'Frog' a prince at Intermedia

Kapadia in negotiations to direct project

Intermedia has optioned "The Frog King," by Bret Easton Ellis, which the scribe adapted from the Adam Davies novel of the same name. Asif Kapadia is in negotiations to direct.

Published in 2002, "The Frog King" is a first novel about an Ivy League-educated peon slaving away ingloriously at a New York publishing house. The one bright spot in Harry Driscoll's life is his girlfriend Evie, whom he manages to lose and then has to win back.

Intermedia will produce with Scott Kroopf and Allison Haskovec overseeing the project.

Easton Ellis' novels "Less Than Zero," "American Psycho" and "The Rules of Attraction" have all been adapted to the bigscreen. His novel "Glamorama" is being developed by producer Laurence Mark.

Kapadia wrote and directed Miramax's "Warrior," an Indian period piece that screened at the 2001 Venice Film Festival.

Intermedia is partnering with DreamWorks on "Skeletons of the Sahara," based on the nonfiction book by Dean H. King about sailors shipwrecked in Africa in the 19th century, and with Universal on "The 11th Hour," which Billy Ray is directing.
