Gold Circle set to paint a 'Portrait'

Brooks to produce adaptation

Gold Circle Films has optioned the Graham Masterton thriller "Family Portrait," with J.T. Petty negotiating to adapt.

Story concerns a corrupt clan who have achieved immortality via a magic ritual that allows their souls to remain trapped forever within an ancient painting.

Originally published in the U.K., book was published Stateside in 1985 by Tor Books under the title "Picture of Evil."

From Gold Circle, Paul Brooks will produce, with Steve Schneider, Scott Niemeyer and Norm Waitt as executive producers. Zak Kadison brought the project to the shingle.
