Paramount paid mid- against high-six figures for the untitled pitch, in which a somewhat disorganized president leaves office broke, enlists a young college professor to help pen his memoirs and proceeds to push the prof's life into chaos.
Tapestry's Peter Abrams, Robert Levy and Andrew Panay will produce. Project, overseen by Par exec VP Ally Shearmur, is aimed at covering similar comic turf as in "My Favorite Year" and "Analyze This."
Deal reunites Faber and Fisher with Abrams, Levy and Panay, who were producers on "The Wedding Crashers" for New Line. That pic, starring Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as losers who invade weddings to pick up women, has wrapped and is due out next year.
Faber and Fisher, repped by ICM, recently sold their spec comedy "We're the Millers" to New Line; story centers on a smuggler who bonds with a fake family he's hired while engaged in final mission. They've also set up "Moving Day," a comedy pitch along the lines of "Planes, Trains and Automobiles," at New Line.
"We tend to focus on what we know, which is people in their 30s who opt out of what they're supposed to be doing," Faber said.
