Mouse tunes in pic pitch

Waters attached to helm 'Musical'

The Walt Disney Company has paid mid-six against seven figures to option the pitch "Bob the Musical," penned by Mike Bender for Touchstone Pictures.

Helmer Mark Waters ("Freaky Friday") is attached to direct pic, described as a musical in the vein of "Groundhog Day" in which someone is trapped within a tuner.

Pic will be produced by Chris Bender and JC Spink of Benderspink with Beau Flynn and Tripp Vinson's new shingle Contrafilm. Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group execs Kristin Burr and Louanne Brickhouse are overseeing pic for the studio.

Bender has also set up "Show Dogs" at New Line and "A Fistful of Candy" at Columbia Pictures. He also wrote "Not Another Teen Movie."

Waters is attached to direct "Ghosts of Girlfriends Past" for the Mouse House, which Benderspink is exec producing.

Vinson and Flynn are currently producing "The Guardian" for Disney and just wrapped "After the Sunset" for helmer Brett Ratner at New Line, where Contrafilm has a new first-look deal.

Benderspink is in production on "Monster-in-Law" at New Line Cinema and "The Ring 2" at DreamWorks, and it is in pre-production on "A History of Violence" at New Line. It has also set up "Red Eye" at DreamWorks.
