Pic will be produced by Beacon and Alfred Gough and Miles Millar under their production deal with the Mouse House.
Reilly's novel was first made available online for free, and a partial manuscript was shopped to the studios. Book will be published by Simon & Schuster in two volumes.
Pic is set in the near future, with hover car racing the Formula One of its time. A 15-year-old boy who qualifies for the famed International Race School fights it out in races on the international circuit, including a white-knuckle super-race that winds through New York City.
Disney exec Kristin Burr is overseeing the project.
Reilly previously wrote the international bestsellers "Ice Station" and "Scarecrow."
