The perfect 'Stranger' for Ferrell

Majors aggressively pursuing Helm-penned project

Will Ferrell is in negotiations to star in the comedy "Stranger Than Fiction," which Marc Forster ("Monster's Ball") will direct for Senator Intl.

Majors including Sony, Universal and Warner Bros. are aggressively pursuing the project, which has not yet landed at a studio.

Lindsay Doran ("Sense and Sensibility") is producing under her Three Strange Angels banner.

Senator Intl. Is exec producing and distributing worldwide.

Pic, written by Zach Helm, revolves around an IRS auditor whose life is interrupted by the sound of a personal narrator who knows his every thought, feeling and action, including when and where he will die. Senator Intl. is exec producing and distribbing worldwide.

Ferrell stars in DreamWorks' "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy" and has a busy year ahead. This September he starts shooting Columbia's "Bewitched" opposite Nicole Kidman. His 2005 projects include the Woody Allen film "Melinda and Melinda" at Fox Searchlight and U's "Kicking and Screaming," with Robert Duvall, which Mosaic Media is also producing.

Forster directed Miramax's "Finding Neverland," starring Johnny Depp and Julie Christie, which bows this fall. He produced the recently wrapped "Sueno," starring John Leguizamo, for Screen Gems.
