AFTRA fetes 2 b'casters

Veep Edwards, 'Today's' Scott

HOLLYWOOD -- Bob Edwards and Willard Scott received the second annual media and entertainment excellence awards at the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists' national plenary in Gotham.

Edwards, national first veepee of AFTRA, has won broadcasting's Peabody, Edward R. Murrow and Alfred I. DuPont-Columbia U. awards. He joined the staff of National Public Radio in 1974 and has conducted more than 20,000 interviews.

Scott has been a broadcaster for more than 50 years. He wishes happy birthday to centenarians on Tuesday and Thursday mornings on the "Today" show and often appears as weather reporter. In 1985, he received the Private Sector Award for Public Service, presented by President Reagan.
