Baldwin plans trip to 'Elizabethtown'

Thesp joins Crowe's Par pic

Paramount has tapped Alec Baldwin to round out the cast for Cameron Crowe's romantic comedy "Elizabethtown," starring Kirsten Dunst, Orlando Bloom and Susan Sarandon.

"Elizabethtown" centers on an unexpected romance that develops against the backdrop of the elaborate memorial for a Kentucky patriarch. Baldwin will portray the boss of Bloom's character.

Bruce McGill and Gaillard Sartain have also joined the cast, which includes Judy Greer, Jessica Biel, Loudon Wainwright III, Paul Schneider and Paula Dean.

Paramount's hoping for a 2005 release. Crowe, who's directing and scripting, decided last fall after second-unit shooting to push the start of production back from first quarter 2004.

"Elizabethtown" was originally developed with Par and DreamWorks co-financing, but DreamWorks dropped out earlier this year.
