Cullens cull NBC U deal

Duo to create potential series for Peacock's sister shingle

Writer-producers Robb and Mark Cullen ("Lucky") have sealed a script deal with NBC Universal TV Studios to create new projects.

Under the deal, valued in the mid-six figures, the Cullens will create a potential series for the Peacock's sister shingle. The Cullens would exec produce, along with Brillstein-Grey's Bernie Brillstein and Peter Safran.

The scribes developed sitcom pilot "The Friendlys" last season at NBC and NBC Studios. The Peacock ultimately passed on the project, but NUTS immediately got back into development with the duo.

No concept has been revealed as of yet, but the Cullens are focusing on a drama script. They also have a second project, a comedy, in the works.

The Cullens received an Emmy nomination for "Lucky," FX's critically acclaimed but short-lived half-hour starring John Corbett. It was through "Lucky" that they developed their relationship with NBC Entertainment prexy Kevin Reilly, who was with FX at the time.

The duo also created "Gary the Rat" for Kelsey Grammer's Grammnet Prods.; that animated series, originally developed for the web, eventually wound up on Spike TV.

The scribes are repped by WMA.
