Amsden's nonfiction piece is a minute-by-minute account of a standoff between police officers in Westchester County, N.Y., and a house full of partying teenagers. When the cops arrived to bust the party, the kids refused to unlock the door and spent the next three hours cleaning the house. When the police finally got in, there was no evidence of wrongdoing.
The 24-year-old Amsden wrote the novel "Important Things That Don't Matter," published last year by William Morrow.
He is a contributing writer for New York and also writes for the online magazines Salon and Slate.
