Romance in Eddie's future

Murphy climbs D'Works' balcony for project

Eddie Murphy will star in an as-yet-untitled comedy at DreamWorks described as "Romeo and Juliet" told from the point of view of the lovers' parents.

Pic, written by Barry Blaustein and David Sheffield, will be produced by Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald.

Blaustein and Sheffield's relationship with Murphy dates back to the 1970s, when the pair wrote for him on "Saturday Night Live."

More recently the team worked on "The Honeymooners," a contempo feature version of the Jackie Gleason series starring Cedric the Entertainer, in production at Paramount.

They made their name on a string of Murphy films -- both "Nutty Professor" pics, "Boomerang" and "Coming to America."

Murphy is currently featured as the voice of the wise-cracking Donkey in DreamWorks' "Shrek 2." Next up for the comic is "Daddy Day Camp," the sequel to Revolution's "Daddy Day Care."
