Selick, who will oversee the animation studio's push into feature production, has already begun work on Vinton's first high-budget CG short film, "Moongirl."
Filmmaker just completed his stint as animation director on Wes Anderson's "The Life Aquatic." Selick also adapted Neil Gaiman's "Coraline," for Bill Mechanic's Pandemonium. He plans to direct that pic.
Selick, who also helmed "James and the Giant Peach" and "Monkeybone," became an animator under Glen Keane on Disney's "Fox and the Hound." With a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, he then made the short film "Seepage."
With offices in Portland and Los Angeles, Vinton co-produced the stop-motion animated feature "Corpse Bride" with Tim Burton for release through Warner Bros. Pictures in 2005. Vinton also exec produced primetime animated TV series "The PJs" for the WB as well as UPN's animated series "Gary and Mike."
Last September, Nike co-founder and CEO Phil Knight acquired Vinton. He now holds the position of board chairman.
