Project centers on a divorced couple slowly fall back in love and the impact it has on their children.
"Twice" touches upon similar territory as "Parenthood," with an array of comedic themes arising amid the serious emotions kicked up by divorce, Brightbill said.
"I wanted to tell a story with a lot of levity about getting second chances," she added.
Brightbill's deal is her second sale, coming a year after Warner Bros. Pictures picked up the romantic comedy "Hergatory" for Andrew Lazar to produce through his Mad Chance Prods. She began her career as an MTV veejay and a thesp in "Message in a Bottle" and "The Postman" before moving into scripting.
"This is a much better life as a writer than I had as an actress," admitted Brightbill. "But I have written a very tiny part for myself in 'Twice Upon a Time.' "
