Fox 2000 to redo 'Million'

Ladd, Wyler to produce 'S.W.A.T.' scribe's script

Fox 2000 is ramping up a remake of "How to Steal a Million," with David McKenna adapting the screenplay.

Twentieth Century Fox produced the 1966 pic, which starred Audrey Hepburn and Peter O'Toole.

Directed by William Wyler, the original was the tale of a renowned art collector and covert forger who has loaned a famous (and phony) statue to a Paris museum. To protect her father, before tests can be performed on the statue, his chic daughter plots to steal the statue with the help of an amateur thief -- who also happens to be an undercover inspector.

David Ladd and David Wyler, son of the pic's original helmer, will produce the remake. Ladd most recently produced "A Guy Thing" and "Hart's War."

McKenna, who co-wrote "S.W.A.T." and "Blow," also wrote "American History X."
