The $2.5 million feature will be produced by Hamer's BulBul Film and U.S. producer Jim Stark's Stark Sales, with Christine Walker ("American Splendor") as U.S. line and co-producer.
Pic, which has been in preparation for several years, will start principal photography in June in Minneapolis.
"Factotum" was launched at Rotterdam's CineMart, where Pandora Film Production, Mikado Films, French sales agency Celluloid Dreams and MBP were already attached to the film about Bukowski's turbulent life.
Pic is described by Hamer as a funny, touching and sometimes poetic account of a man determined to live life to the fullest, even if it means taking many jobs, loving many women and rejecting every part of the American dream. It will be released in spring.
Hamer's last feature was "Kitchen Stories."
