Beacon Communications topper Armyan Bernstein is producing with Jon Shestack. Joe Forte scripted. A director will be signed shortly.
Ford and Beacon last teamed on the Wolfgang Petersen-directed hit "Air Force One," a film that was also produced by Bernstein and Shestack, who was a Beacon veep at the time.
Here, Ford would play the security chief for a global bank whose family is kidnapped. He's asked to topple his own security safeguards and steal $37 million from the bank to save his family. Then he has to stop the kidnappers, who've created a complex trail that will make him look guilty of embezzlement.
Shestack and Forte set the project up at MGM as a spec script, and Bernstein came in after that studio put it in turnaround. They brought it to WB, which snapped it up and will fully finance it. WB exec Jeff Clifford will steer the project.
Pic will be the next project for Ford, whose plans to reprise his Indiana Jones role were dashed after he, Steven Spielberg and George Lucas felt they needed a new script. Ford last starred in "Hollywood Homicide." He's repped by UTA and McQueeney Management.
"The Wrong Element" will be the first go picture at WB for Shestack, who has a deal at the studio.
Disney-based Beacon will launch its first Mouse project in the Garry Marshall-directed Kate Hudson starrer "Raising Helen," which will open the Tribeca Film Festival.
