Project, based on the series that ran from 1987-1990 on Fox, was first set up at Paramount in 2002 with Stephen J. Cannell and Douglas Rosen producing. At that point, series co-creators Cannell and Patrick Hasburgh were scripting an updated take on undercover police officers at a tough school.
Moritz produced "2 Fast 2 Furious," "S.W.A.T." and "Out of Time" last year through Sony-based Original. He's developing a third installment of "The Fast and the Furious," and "Spy Hunter" for Universal.
Paramount recently set up an updated remake of Alfred Hitchcock's "To Catch a Thief" with Moritz producing and Todd Komarnicki writing (Daily Variety, April 6). Columbia also set up "The Passion of the Ark" last week with Moritz after paying scribes Bobby Florsheim and Josh Stolberg $1.5 million against $2.5 million.
