Burns hits the beach for Fox
Pilot casts Bertinelli, Root

Sitcom vets Valerie Bertinelli and Stephen Root, meanwhile, have joined the cast of the net's untitled comedy pilot from Michael Jacobs.
Burns joins "North Shore" as production has already begun on the series, which has received a 13-episode order from Fox. Hawaii-set drama, which comes from 20th Century Fox TV, revolves around the staff at an exclusive resort on Oahu's North Shore.
Burns' recent credits include hosting NBC's reality skein "Dog Eat Dog," as well as stints on the syndie action hour "She Spies."
"North Shore" comes from exec producers Chris Brancato, Bert Salke, Peter Elkoff, Peyton Reed and Kevin Falls.
Bertinelli and Root will star in the untitled Jacobs project along with Taylor Handley and Michelle Alexis.
Show, from Sony Pictures TV and Jersey TV, revolves around parents who must contend with the fact that their kids are growing up.
Bertinelli, best known for the long-running laffer "One Day at a Time," more recently starred in CBS' "Touched by an Angel." She also starred in the sitcoms "Cafe Americain" and "Sydney."
Root, who voices Bill in "King of the Hill," is in the features "The Ladykillers" and "Jersey Girl," and will also be seen in "Anchorman." TV credits include "NewsRadio."
Michael Jacobs, Danny DeVito, Michael Shamberg, Stacey Sher and John Landgraf will exec produce the project.
