Lubin's clients at Gersh included Nicole Cassell ("The Woodsman"), Alan Taylor ("The Sopranos"), David Magee ("Neverland") and Robert Festinger ("In the Bedroom").
"I will be an agent and I will stay in NYC," Lubin said. "I'm in the process of figuring out that next step."
According to both sides, that next step is currently in the hands of Lubin's and Gersh's attorneys. However, Lubin said it was "absolutely incorrect" that his exit came after he began talks to join another agency.
"I've not negotiated with anyone," Lubin said. "I left for what we believe is good reason." He declined to elaborate further.
Lubin joined Gersh as the head of its Gotham lit department from the William Morris Agency four years ago. Late last year, he was promoted to co-head of Gersh's lit department with Richard Arlook.
An agency rep said they had not named a replacement for Lubin's post.
