Godard
PARIS -- Jean-Luc Godard's latest film, "Notre musique" (Our Music), will screen out of competition in the Official Selection at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, organizers announced Friday.
Pic, helmed and written by the auteur, tells the tale of an encounter between artists in war-torn Bosnia. Film is said to be broken up into three parts: Hell, Purgatory and Paradise, and has been described as a mix of fiction and documentary. Alongside a largely unknown cast, Godard will appear as himself, as will Spanish writer Juan Goytisolo and the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwich.
Godard, who has never won a prize at Cannes, hasn't attended the fest since 2001, when his "In Praise of Love" missed out on the Palme d'Or.
The 57th edition of the fest runs May 12-23.
