Brill
Paramount Pictures has bought a high-concept comedy pitch from Steve Brill, on the heels of helming the studio's backwoods comedy "Without a Paddle."
Paramount has signed Brill, who originated the idea, to direct the untitled project; he'll also write with Nick Stoller and may produce.
The studio is keeping the storyline tightly under wraps. Exec VP Brian Witten will oversee the project.
Brill has just wrapped "Without a Paddle" for Par, which has grown bullish following test screenings and is planning a late summer release. "Paddle," produced by Donald De Line before he became studio co-prexy, stars Seth Green, Matthew Lillard and Dax Shepard.
Brill has also directed a pair of Adam Sandler comedies -- "Little Nicky" and "Mr. Deeds." The latter grossed $126 million domestically for Sony in 2002.
Stoller has been penning "Fun With Dick and Jane" for Sony with Judd Apatow.
