HOLLYWOOD -- Warner Bros. has optioned the script "Sydney White & the Seven Dorks" for producer Clifford Werber.
Pic was written by Chad Creasey while attending USC's Peter Stark Producing Program, where fellow student Dara Resnik optioned it for her graduate thesis.
Resnik met Werber while he was producing "A Cinderella Story" for the studio.
That pic, an updated version of the classic "Cinderella" fairy tale, will be released July 16 by WB.
Resnik brought the "Dorks" script to Werber and is expected to be involved in a producing capacity.
Alysia Cotter brought the project into Warners and will work with exec Jessica Goodman, who is overseeing it for the studio.
Campus update
Pic, pitched as an updated version of the "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" fairy tale is set among students in their freshman year of college in the Greek system.
Creasey and Resnik's short "Great Lengths" was just accepted to the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival.
The duo are repped by Pamela Silverstein at Key Creatives.
Werber, an independent producer and former Warner Bros. co-production and acquisitions exec, closed a one-year, first-look deal with the studio to acquire and produce films to distribute through the studio both domestically and internationally last September.
He recently acquired the rights to spec script "Slammin," from tyro scribes Aaron Metchik and Joseph Garner, with female Brazilian extreme sports inline skater Fabiola da Silva to topline.
