Jackson's handlers have approached nets about the idea of a Jackson special built around videotape footage from the singer's trip this week to Washington, D.C., as well as some of Jackson's meetings with his inner circle of advisers, according to two network execs familiar with the pitch.
In addition, the pop star/accused child molester would agree to sit down for a seven- to 10-minute interview -- though topics covered by the gag order in Jackson's criminal case would be off limits.
The asking price for a package deal: $3 million, according to one insider.
But while the nets have gone wacko for Jacko before, webheads don't seem too excited about the idea of a new Jackson interview special.
Insiders at ABC, CBS and NBC said either they either hadn't heard of the offer or had rejected the idea. A Fox source said the net hadn't heard the pitch and wasn't considering a Jackson special.
Chilly response isn't surprising given the flack CBS took for airing its last Jackson special, which was taped before the singer was charged with molestation.
