Disney takes 'Powder' from McCreery
Family laffer revolves around an NFL coach who's fired, and ends up moving back to his small town in Texas, where he coaches his tomboy daughter's all-girl football team in an all-boy's league.
McCreery graduated from the Disney Fellowship in Screenwriting program just a month ago. She follows in the footsteps of fellow alums Don D. Scott ("Barbershop"), Reggie Rock Bythewood ("Biker Boyz") and Heather Hach ("Freaky Friday").
Underground Management, which reps McCreery, also helped set up "Flower Girl" at Warner Bros. for first-timer Mary Elder, another recent Disney Fellowship grad.
Tapestry Film partners Andrew Panay, Peter Abrams and Robert Levy will produce "Powderpuff Girls" with Gough and Millar.
Tapestry is producing New Line comedy "The Wedding Crashers," which stars Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. Company recently wrapped "The Underclassman" at Miramax with Nick Cannon toplining.
Gough and Millar created and exec produce the WB hit "Smallville" with Mike Tollin, Brian Robbins, Joe Davola and Ken Horton.
The duo are also adapting the comicbook "Iron Man" for New Line and penned Disney's "Shanghai Knights" and its predecessor, "Shanghai Noon," both co-productions with Spyglass Entertainment.
Buena Vista Motion Pictures Group veep Doug Short will shepherd the project for the studio.
