2929 takes chance on 'Infidelity'

Author's previous book acquired by U, Imagine

Todd Wagner and Mark Cuban's 2929 Productions has optioned the Mark Borrowcliffe novel "Infidelity For First Time Fathers." "She's All That" scribe R. Lee Fleming Jr. is set to write the script.

The book is about an immature man in his late 30s who faces the ultimate crisis for a philanderer: Both his fiance and his college-aged girlfriend have gotten pregnant at the same time.

Comic novel was written by the British author Borrowcliffe, whose first book "Girlfriend 44" was acquired by Universal and Imagine. Fleming also scripted "Get Over It."

Wagner and Cuban will produce the pic with Marc Butan, the former Lions Gate exec hired recently to head 2929 Productions.

Wagner and Cuban's 2929 Entertainment has turned up the volume of its production company after acquiring such assets as the Landmark Theater art house chain, Rysher Entertainment and Magnolia Pictures Distribution. They also hold a stake in Lions Gate.

The film arm is co-financing and co-producing with Section 8 "The Criminal" and "The Jacket," to be distributed by Warner Independent. 2929 is also producing the Robert De Niro-Rebecca Romijn-Stamos pic "Godsend," which Lions Gate will release next month.
