Second place continues to be the best that new releases can muster as Cassidy's "Split Personality" (J Records) becomes the latest bridesmaid to Norah Jones' "Feels Like Home."
Debut disc from rapper Cassidy sold 118,000 copies in its first week, nearly 30,000 shy of Jones' sophomore Blue Note release, now in its sixth week at No. 1. Cassidy's sales were driven by the inclusion of the track "Hotel," which features R. Kelly.
Godsmack's "Other Side" (Universal) posted the second-highest debut figures for the week ended Sunday, landing at No. 5 on sales of 98,000 copies.
A pair of greatest-hits discs provided the other significant debuts: Jackson Browne's "Very Best Of," a two-CD offering from Warner Strategic Marketing, sold 24,000 (No. 46) and "Ultimate Daryl Hall & John Oates" (BMG) hit No. 63 on sales of 19,000.
Week saw little shuffling in the top 20, though several discs posted slight increases from the week previous: Maroon 5's "Songs About Jane" was up 3,000 to 70,000, Hoobastank's "The Reason" spiked 5,000 to 32,000, Five for Fighting's "Battle for Everything" bumped up 3,000 units to 28,000 and Switchfoot's "Beautiful Letdown" rose nearly 6,000 to 25,000.
Usher's "Confession" and Clipse's "Hell Hath No Fury" stand to provide Jones with competition next week.
