Paramount Pictures and John Goldwyn have set an untitled pic that will team the producer with his director brother, Tony Goldwyn.
Thriller, about a poor man who appropriates the identity of his wealthy friend so he can taste the good life, will be written by Ilene Chaiken, creator and exec producer of the Showtime series "The L Word."
Chaiken and Tony Goldwyn hatched the drama when Goldwyn directed an episode of "The L Word," the same-sex series that just got picked up for a sophomore season by the cabler.
The film will center around two men from opposite ends of the economic strata who find themselves fighting side by side during the invasion of Iraq. When the rich one dies, the poor one assumes his identity.
John Goldwyn, who recently segued from vice chairman of the Paramount Motion Pictures Group, will produce under his Par deal. Anonymous Content's Scott Bankston and Larry Kennar will exec produce.
Tony Goldwyn has worked extensively as an actor, playing roles such as the back-stabbing villains from "Ghost" and "The Last Samurai." However, he has become busier as a director since breaking in with the Diane Lane/Viggo Mortensen starrer "A Walk on the Moon." Goldwyn is next expected to direct "The Betty Anne Waters Story" for Universal and Working Title, starring Naomi Watts.
It is the first professional pairing of the siblings, who are the sons of producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr. and grandsons of producer Samuel Goldwyn.
Since exiting the Par executive suite, Goldwyn has been working on his own projects, recently joining Lorne Michaels to produce several pictures, including one to be scripted by Tina Fey, co-anchor of "Saturday Night Live's" "Weekend Update," who wrote the upcoming Par pic "Mean Girls."
