Publisher delaying Mouse topper's book

Bow pushed until product can be 'properly' marketed

NEW YORK -- Warner Books has delayed publication of Michael Eisner's memoir about the life lessons learned at boyhood camp, saying the embattled Mouse House CEO doesn't have time to promote the book.

"Camp," originally due out in June, won't be out until summer 2005, a Warner Books spokeswoman said.

Release of Eisner's feel-good book, which extols the virtues of teamwork, was timed to coincide with Father's Day.

Decision to delay publication was made earlier this month after the Walt Disney board of directors stripped Eisner of his board chairmanship, a vote prompted by a loud outcry among shareholders over Eisner's management of the entertainment conglom.

"Quite honestly, we really like the book a lot. We want to publish it at a time when he can properly market it," a Warner Books exec said.

Earlier this year, Warner Books postponed the release of Rosie O'Donnell's book "Celebrity Detox" for similar reasons, with O'Donnell swept up in legal skirmishes over her former mag.

Eisner previously authored "Work in Progress," a more encompassing memoir of his life and work.
